§ 95.105. Purposes.

  • The Commission is established for the following general purposes:

    (a)

    To study and make recommendations to the Council with respect to the improvement, development and protection of the St. Johns River, all tidal waters, and all saltwater, estuarine and riverine wetlands (Class I and Class II as defined in the 2030 Comprehensive Plan) in Duval County;

    (b)

    To formulate an overall plan for dealing with any problems that exist concerning the St. Johns River and all tidal waters in Duval County.

    (c)

    To devise methods of developing future uses of the St. Johns River and all tidal waters in Duval County.

    (d)

    To serve as the Duval County committee to review rules proposed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission governing the speed and operation of motorboats to protect manatees, as provided by F.S. § 370.12(2)(f)(3).

    (e)

    To assist the City in achievement of its stated goal to improve the water quality of the City's wetlands resources over the long term and improve the water quality and fish and wildlife value of wetlands by reviewing and making recommendations to the Council with respect to proposed land use amendments.
