§ 122.306. Vehicles to which Part applies.

  • The provisions of this Part shall apply to all motor vehicles owned by the City except the Mayor's official limousine and motor vehicles that are assigned and used for law enforcement purposes in the investigation, prevention and detection of violations of City and state laws. For purposes of this provision, the Sheriff, with the approval of the Risk Manager, may consent to the use of law enforcement motor vehicles by an accredited educational institution for the sole purpose of training of law enforcement officers, which use shall be deemed a use for law enforcement purposes and shall further be deemed an exception to the applicability of this Chapter. The Sheriff shall designate and keep a record of all motor vehicles assigned and used for law enforcement purposes. The executive directors of the independent agencies and the Superintendent of Schools, with the approval of the Director of Finance and Administration, shall designate and keep a record of the motor vehicles so assigned and used for law enforcement purposes in their respective agencies.
