§ 804.102. Definitions.

  • In this Chapter, unless the context otherwise requires:

    (a)

    Alley means a street or way within a block set apart for public use, vehicular travel and local convenience, except a footpath.

    (b)—(d)

    Bus stand means a fixed area in the roadway parallel and adjacent to the curb to be occupied exclusively by buses for layover in operating schedules or waiting for passengers.

    (f)—(h)

    (i)

    Curb loading zone means a space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers or materials.

    (j)

    (k)

    Freight curb loading zone means a space adjacent to a curb for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of freight.

    (l), (m)

    (n)

    Local street, collector street, arterial street, expressway or freeway means a street so designated in the 1990 Land Use and Highway Functional Classification Systems plan prepared for the State Department of Transportation, dated March 31, 1972, a copy of which shall be maintained in the offices of the Council Secretary and the Traffic Engineer.

    (p)

    Motor-driven cycle means a vehicle propelled by power (other than muscular power), trailer, semitrailer, trailer coach or trolley coach, excepting road rollers and vehicles which operate only upon rails or tracks in place on the ground, that travel through the air or that derive their motive power from overhead electric lines and farm tractors, farm trailers and other machines and tools used in the production, harvesting and care of farm products.

    Passenger curb loading zone means an area adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers.
