The Board may appoint an Executive Director and such other staff as may be necessary
to conduct the business of the Board. The Executive Director shall be appointed by
the Board, subject to confirmation by the Council, and shall serve at the pleasure
of the Board. The Executive Director's pay grade, salary range, salary and benefits
shall be established and set as are appointed officials in accordance with Section 129.101(b) and (c), Ordinance Code, and the Appointed Employees and Officials Salary and
Employment Plan. The Executive Director will be exempt from the classified civil service.
Other Board employees will be selected from eligibility lists certified by the Human
Resources Division in the appropriate job classification. The duties of the Executive
Director shall be to manage and supervise the Board office and staff in carrying out
the policies and directives of the Board and to ensure completion of all administrative
matters. The executive director shall handle such other duties as the Board may from
time to time assign. To perform its duties, the Board may call upon the Chief of Building
Inspection to furnish employees as may be needed from time to time to make investigations
and enforce ordinances.
