§ 106.401. Employee authorizations.

  • The authorized number of employees set forth in the budget ordinance for each subfund, in the general government, and for each independent agency is a maximum authorization, and employees may not be employed within any subfund or independent agency, as appropriate, at any one time in excess of the maximum authorization for that subfund or independent agency, as appropriate. Increases in the authorized number of employees shall require the approval of the Council. The Mayor, for the general government, or the governing body or other designated official, for an independent agency, may allocate and reallocate the authorized number of employees as may be necessary for the efficient administration of the agency or agencies involved; provided, that the Mayor may not allocate any authorized position in one subfund to any other subfund. Nothing in this Section shall prevent the Council from further regulating employee authorizations in the budget ordinance.
